My hardest year physically was 2013. I suffer from depression and anxiety. I have a great group of doctors that have spent years helping me improve my life, but this has caused many medications changes. Fortunately the latest medications added by my doctor have greatly improved my mental health. Unfortunately I gained 25lbs in 3 months after starting. I was already unhappy with my weight, and this drastic change greatly impacted my self-esteem. I felt like I no longer recognized myself.
On January 1st 2014 I stepped on the scale and was shocked at what I saw. It read 204 lbs. That is the most I have ever weighed including when I was pregnant with my daughter (2007). I decided in that moment to make a change. I joined Weight Watchers, but rarely worked out. I learned that the decisions I tried to make on eating healthier really weren’t. I made some major changes to my diet. I lost 10 lbs in that first month, but the month of February I wasn’t as successful and I only maintained the 10 lb loss. Maintaining would NOT help me reach my goal of 160lbs.
I joined my first accountability group in March 2014. I was familiar with Beachbody so I knew a little bit of what I was getting into. A little over a year after I had my daughter (so 2009ish) my husband and I did P90x. I had FANTASTIC results, but started having heart issues right after. It wasn’t until 4 months later that we realized it was, also, due to medication change. Even after taking me off the medicine it took me a while to feel healthy again physically while my mental health was a big struggle. Late last year I bought 10 minute trainer and had yet to begin using it, which leads us back to the challenge group…
Joining the challenge group – I gave it a few days trying to understand how I could benefit from it, but after the first week I found the motivation from the awesome women in this group to start utilizing the 10 minute trainer program. I used the 10 minute trainer program for 40 days, and decided it was time to kick it up a notch and began P90x3.
The challenge group has helped to educate me further on my eating choices. My family and I have started focusing on clean eating, and I love it! The group, also, introduced me to Shakeology! Shakeology is now how I start every day, and after only a week and a half I can see that it really does what Beachbody advertises (more energy, fuller feeling, less cravings, better digestion, overall feeling better).
I am down over 30lbs utilizing Shakeology, Beachbody workouts, and clean eating. The best part is that my progress pictures have shown some impressive changes to my body. The challenge group was so inspiring that I decided I wanted to help others in the same way it helped me by becoming a coach. I truly believe it has changed my life. I hope to help others reach their potential as I continue to work towards my own goals.
